Netanyahu’s Sore Loser Summit with Putin in Moscow did not go quite as planned

It seems that we missed a crucial exchange from yesterday’s Sore Loser Summit in Moscow

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to Moscow on Thursday to complain to Putin about big, bad Iran and how tragic it is that Tehran destroyed legions of “moderate” rebels and ISIS fanatics in Syria.

Here’s Netanyahu, tissue in hand, telling Putin some Bible stories:

Thank you for your congratulations on the upcoming Purim holiday. In ancient Persia, an attempt was made to destroy the Jewish people 2,500 years ago, and it failed. This is what this holiday celebrates. Today, ancient Persia’s successor, Iran, continues attempts to destroy the Jewish state.

Putin’s  reply:

Putin noted that those events had taken place “in the fifth century BC,” added that “we now live in a different world” and suggested discussing the actual up-to-date problems in the region.

Can you imagine how tedious and petty international relations would become if each and every country on earth cited events from 2,500 years ago in order to rationalize their geopolitical worldviews?

Yes, we live in a different world. The “real” world.

This is the best answer ever to achieve Peace in the Middle East. E.M

  1. Of course, is time to change the mentality and the speech – If the president of Israel keep speaking about enemy, victim and war, nothing is going to change – He should speak about peace, harmony, solutions…..this is the dialogue to change what is no longer desired and bringing any benefit to humanity !! Putin was very straight to the point, I agree with his approach!!

  2. The current Israel is so often confused with the Israelites of the bible which it is not the same. The current Israel (Netanyahu’s) was established in the 1940’s and has been taken Palestinian lang grabs ever since! The original Israelites came from Ireland.

  3. Thank you for sharing this somewhat dark humour here, Edward Morgan.
Putin’s a very down to earth man, practicing judo helps I guess.
The stance of Netanyahu reminds me of the “Wall of Complains” in Jerusalem.
At least, that’s the name in Dutch, given to this wall where many Jewish men stand
with their book, talking to that wall and gesturing dramatically. Praying and compaining.
I now understand better, I think, why this wall was constructed.

I’m informed once, about 20 years ago, that the Jews arrived here, a Hebrew race from the future,
with the intention to balance karma. They seem to have a hard nut to crack, isn’t it?
I know that there are parts of the population in Israel, living with peaceful attitudes as well.

The claim that Israel’s land was given to them by God is an argument I’ve heard
too often, in the circles of the Calvinistic Church I grew up with. Also the claim
to see the treatment of Palestinians as rightful due to God’s hand in offering their land
to the Israelians has often been an enormous challenge to my sense of justice.
I’ve bitten my tongue so very often in the company of my family at large! Though I can’t say I lost it lol
