In recent years there have been increasing reports that “smart meters” – the digitized electric meters that are designed to send usage figures to power companies wirelessly – are causing a range of health issues among a growing portion of the population where such devices are in use.

In fact, notes the EMF Safety Network, a growing number of people from around the world are beginning to report health problems they believe are related to an increased amount of wireless radiation from various devices, including smart meters.

“Utilities claim smart meters are safe, and compare them to cell phones. However, cell phones, cell towers, wi-fi and other wireless devices can also affect your health,” the organization states on its website. “Reducing your EMF exposure can benefit your overall health and wellness.”

The group also notes that the World Health Organization has classified radiation as a 2B carcinogen, and based that declaration on studies that have linked cell phone radiation to brain tumors.

Vast list of symptoms

As noted by Cancer.org, here is how the devices work:

“Smart meters talk to their central systems using RF transmissions, based on a cell phone, pager, satellite, radio, power line (PLC), Wi-Fi or Internet (TCP/IP) communication method. Internet and cell phone applications have become the preferred options because of their flexibility and ease of deployment.”

Cancer.org notes further that smart meters are typically installed outside homes and places of business to measure electricity, water and gas usage. How much RF energy people are exposed to depends on how far they are from the antenna that transmits the signal.

The power and frequency of the RF signal emitted from smart meters are similar to those of a typical cellular phone, cordless phone or residential Wi-Fi router. These meters typically send and receive short messages about 1 percent of the time.

Cancer.org notes that the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) named RF radiation as “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” based on findings of at least one study that examined a link between it and a particular type of brain tumor.

In addition, the EMF Safety Network has identified the following symptoms as possibly linked to RF radiation, based on a survey the group did in 2011:

–Sleep problems (insomnia, difficulty falling asleep, night waking, nightmares)

–Stress, agitation, anxiety, irritability

–Headaches, sharp pain or pressure in the head

–Ringing in the ears, ear pain, high pitched ringing

–Concentration, memory or learning problems

–Fatigue, muscle or physical weakness

–Disorientation, dizziness, or balance problems

–Eye problems, including eye pain, pressure in the eyes

–Cardiac symptoms, heart palpitations, heart arrhythmias, chest pain

–Leg cramps, or neuropathy

–Arthritis, body pain, sharp, stabbing pains

–Nausea, flu-like symptoms

–Sinus problems, nose bleeds

–Respiratory problems, cough, asthma

–Skin rashes, facial flushing

–Urinary problems

–Endocrine disorders, thyroid problems, diabetes

–High blood pressure

–Changes in menstrual cycle

–Hyperactivity or changes in children’s behavior

–Seizures

–Recurrence of cancer

Do symptoms qualify as a ‘disability?’

Many are skeptical that smart meters cause cancer or any of the problems listed in the EMF Safety Network survey, but the activist organization Stop Smart Meters, which opposes their use, says some people “have or develop symptoms of physical distress in the presence of electro-magnetic or radio-frequency fields (or both).”

“There are many symptoms associated with this type of sensitivity, and the main key in determining whether EMF fields are the cause of the problem is seeing what happens when you lessen or avoid exposure,” the group says on its website.

The group also noted that it has been unable to ascertain from the federal government whether or not the condition falls under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

  2. If you’re experiencing illness following installation of a smart meter then you can shield yourself by making a hat out of tinfoil.

    • I’m sure it will look funny, Rod Jones and it’s possible that you’re joking and not serious, giving this advise. I’ll respond by taking it serious, okay? I’m afraid that a tinfoil hat won’t do, when EMF is involved. It’s permeating all substance, living bodies and space in the home. The effect is relative to the nearness of a person to a source, naturally. It’s why an advise is given to not hold a mobile phone to your head for long periods of time.

Apart from the manual and description of smart meters’ function, the information in the manual about the timing of read outs isn’t correct. Reports have arrived, in the US, of residents, using electrosmog meters, that read outs happen far more frequently than what’s being told about it to smart meter users.

The bombardment is enormous and unless you wrap yourself from top to toe in tinfoil, the effect will be noticed by your whole body and energy system. A regular visit to a natural pristine environment, or even living in such a place, off grid, plus a healthy immune system is the best possible condition to endure electrosmog.

I keep my mobile phone away from my body, at least 5 meter away and when I’m moving around it’s in my bag. I’m holding the phone in loudspeaker mode, when I’m calling, so that I hold the phone in my hand on an armlength distance. In general I use it as less as possible.

Besides, I use Life Light rings to shield electrosmog. When I’m online at my laptop I wear one around my left wrist and several of them are placed under the seat of my chair and under my mattress.
      So far so good 🙂

  3. As this report is offered by Dutch researchers, with testimonies of Dutch smart meter users.
I can confirm that I found proof of the falsified rise in energy costs after installing and using a smart meter, in Holland. I’m Dutch by birth and left Holland with a lodger in my home, in 2015. This afternoon, I’ve visited the Forum of my energy provider in Holland, where users of smart meters can discuss issues and receive advise from moderators. This Forum is in existence since 2013.

To my surprise I found a long discussion with users of smart meters all complaining about the rise of costs. Some noticed such a ridiculous rise that it’s obvious that something is programmed in these smart meters.
Several female moderators, representing this energy provider as members of the administration and information center, usually respond to this by saying

“We suspect that you have overlooked a cause of this rise in energy use in your home, you should keep track of changes in the use of devices and possibly you’ve used more warmth during a cold spell, compared to the winter of the year before. Naturally we will claim the costs that are displayed on the bill”. What now, service?!

Several users complaining about the rise of energy costs, are in protest and threaten to decline the use of a smart meter. That’s possible, for the time being. I do know that in the UK, where I live now, it’s ordained that by 2020 each home should have a smart meter installed.

I’m a regular pain in the neck in that Dutch Forum, by sharing critical notes with documentation and research reports, showing proof of damage to the health of residents living in a home with smart meters. Also this article here is present in that place now, of course it’s now present in that page with complaints.
The reactions to my posts, by advisors who are in competition about popularity, are usually meant to ridicule me. It’s peculiar to read that America is accused of reporting fairy tale drama regarding smart meters.
As if they’re too stupid to think for themselves. “Fortunately there’s a large pool of water between us and America” was one of the statements. I’m a conspiracy theory addict, in their opinion. Alas, so be it.

It’s not always thought of, that the presence of smart meters house-to-house, shows an accumulation of EMF radiation, even expanding to the space outside the home into the garden and the street. Despite the smart meter manual stating that at certain fixed times, during the day and night, a read out will occur, meaning a sudden rise in EMF, it’s happening far more often. Numerous videos on YouTube show people with electrosmog-meters walking through the home and measuring electronic devices. The total amount of electrosmog, coming from digital gadgets is enormous. Induction cooking is a health hazard when standing near the source of energy for hours. The manual of such a device warns wearers of pacemakers to keep away from them. How numb must one be to overlook such a warning!

The handset of a chordless phone is heavily charged with electrosmog, as you will find out, while looking into these videos and so are mobile phones, smart meters and a television system with a connection to internet.
The effect of electrosmog can be neutralized to a certain extent by being and grounding in nature. Project a smiley in your immune system’s gland, present below the hollow of the throat, or tap that spot gently with your fingertips for a couple of minutes each day. That’s an awakening too 🙂

    • I think I need to offer the link with evidence of higher costs of energy after installing smart meters, where I refer to in my comment here. Not sure how or where I found the resulsts of that Dutch research team, when I wrote about it. But here’s the link:
      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/06/smart-energy-meters-giving-readings-seven-times-high-study-finds/

  4. Ones in the UK use mobile phone network to send and receive information you can refuse one if do not want. Cannot be fitted where bad or no mobile phone signal at meter location.

    • I sure hope that the UK doesn’t live up to the plan to install smart meters in every home, by the year 2020, Ron Angel. So far that’s the idea, also in Holland. I’m happy that it can be refused in the UK, although that happiness may be lost in a few years, if that freedom of choice is taken away.

In the US, when citizens refuse to accept a smart meter, it happens on a regular basis that a “smart meter installation- team” arrives at the door of commuters, breaking the door open, or a window, enter the home and install a smart meter, without contacting the residents. A brutal intrusion that can’t be
      prevented or forbidden by law.

Possibly I’ll live off grid in a near future. Be it in 3D, 4D or 5D. Is 5D similar to off grid living? It’s a matter of resonance and choice, I guess, where we project our attention and attach our energy to.

  5. Might be a good idea to start organizing now guys, because my intuition tells me that if you don’t oppose it, you’re about to get the 5G network in the US – I saw a very aggressive man doing a press conference about it – with MANY more towers required closer together, I understand. The net is closing in my friends. Could be a good idea to start organizing your opposition early, because I would hate to see the carnage when they turn up the dial..

  6. They are covert electronic harassment devices!

They use US patent number 8,579,793 B1 by JD Honeycut.

You speak up about the nwo and they assault you in your home for years with the click of a mouse.

  7. I purchased an Electrosmog meter and used it to do a survey of my house and smart meter. I found that the most significant radiation was from the cordless phone set and particularly the base station. I found that the transmissions from the smart meter were only every few minutes for a very fast burst and the peak was still not alarming. The bottom line is that my experience with smart meters is that you need to check the frequency of transmission and what direction they are radiating. The wi-fi systems we are using seem to produce more of the harmful radiation. Incidentally, I tried to opt out in have the smart meter but the penalty was too high, the regulators of the utility companies are in the pockets of the Utilities.

    • “Incidentally, I tried to opt out in have the smart meter but the penalty was too high, the regulators of the utility companies are in the pockets of the Utilities.”

That, alongside stoking online bullying campaigns against those who want Wi-Fi out of their lives, pretty much shows how evil the Wi-Fi industry truly is.

Just a piece of speculation: Could EMF radiation denature food and scents?

  8. is it SMRT meters or scalar attacks? same thing?
those meters are harmful no doubt but I wonder if this is a cover for an even more sinister ploy
