USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN — WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON ABOARD THIS SHIP?
There is a new report tonight claiming seven American sailors have been killed and several others wounded aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln after a violent confrontation among members of the crew.
It has NOT been confirmed by the U.S. Navy.
Something has been going seriously wrong aboard the Abraham Lincoln for quite some time.
There are roughly 5,000 American sailors and Marines aboard that ship. The Lincoln left San Diego on November 21, 2025 for what was supposed to be a routine Pacific deployment. It was redirected to the Middle East, arrived there in January and has spent much of that time supporting combat operations against Iran. The deployment had been expected to end in May.
It’s August 11.
They’re still there.
There is still no publicly announced date for them to come home. Navy officials say these sailors have now logged 250 consecutive days at sea and supported 40 days of continuous combat operations.
Now look at what sailors and their own families have been reporting.
Food shortages. Water shortages. Laundry unavailable for extended periods. Long periods without hot water. Problems getting mail. Basic things like toothpaste, soap and deodorant running out.
One mother said her son told her there was a period when he was living on half a cup of rice and two tortillas.
Sailors have reportedly been working 12- to 16-hour shifts, sometimes without days off.
And while all of that has been going on, the Lincoln’s flight deck has handled more than 10,000 aircraft sorties in eight months.
Then we get to the part that should scare the hell out of everybody.
The mental condition of some of these sailors appears to be deteriorating badly.
Stars and Stripes reported today that sailors and family members have described suicidal thoughts aboard the Lincoln. One spouse told senior Navy officials that her husband had messaged her that very day saying he hoped he didn’t wake up the next morning.
Sailors also described an incident where watch standers reportedly had to stop a crew member from jumping overboard.
One parent wrote that her son told her he and his shipmates constantly think about jumping off the ship just to get relief.
About 200 family members went directly to senior Navy leadership in San Diego last week. Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao and other senior Navy officials heard directly from husbands, wives, mothers and fathers who are scared about what is happening to their people aboard this ship.
WHEN ARE THEY COMING HOME?
The Navy still wouldn’t give them a date, citing operational security.
Now, to be fair, the Navy says some of the supply problems have improved. The Navy says the ship currently has clean water, working air conditioning and two protein choices at meals. It says mental-health professionals, chaplains and medical personnel are available and that additional support is being worked on.
Good.
But how the hell did we get this far in the first place?
How did approximately 5,000 Americans end up spending month after month at sea, through sustained combat operations, while their families back home are publicly talking about food shortages, exhaustion and sailors thinking about jumping overboard?
And now, right in the middle of all of this, comes tonight’s report.
It claims an adviser to CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper went aboard the Lincoln to address complaints from the crew, was met with boos and water bottles being thrown, and that a confrontation later escalated into fighting involving knives or other bladed weapons.
The report claims seven U.S. Navy personnel were killed and several more wounded.
I’m not going to pretend that simply saying “the Pentagon hasn’t confirmed it” closes the book. We’ve already seen American casualty numbers in this war revised and reclassified. That’s worth remembering, but that isn’t the main story here.
The main story is the USS Abraham Lincoln and the approximately 5,000 Americans aboard her.
Whether seven sailors died aboard that ship or not, we already know enough to be asking some very serious questions about what the hell has been happening aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and why these people have been pushed this far.
Forget Republican. Forget Democrat. Forget whether you’re for this war or against it for a minute.
There are 5,000 Americans aboard that ship.
They have done everything their country has asked them to do.
Who the hell is looking out for them?
