Hamas says Iranian and Yemeni officials have repeatedly stressed that efforts to end regional conflicts must include an end to the war on Gaza.
Key Developments
- Hamas says Iran is actively seeking an end to the war on all fronts, including Gaza.
- The movement insists that any regional ceasefire agreement must include a halt to Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.
- Recent talks between Hamas and Iranian officials underscored Tehran’s commitment to linking regional de-escalation efforts.
Hamas said on Monday that it has received repeated assurances from Iranian and Yemeni officials that efforts to end conflicts across the region must include ending Israel’s war on Gaza.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the movement has been consistently informed by officials in both countries that they are working to stop the war on multiple fronts, including the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, Quds News reported.
The remarks come amid intensified regional diplomacy following months of military escalation involving Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and Iran, as well as ongoing efforts to secure ceasefire arrangements and broader de-escalation agreements.
‘Gaza Must Remain at the Center’
Qassem said Hamas is working to ensure that Gaza remains central to any regional understandings related to ending the current conflicts.
According to the Hamas spokesman, the movement wants any negotiations or arrangements aimed at reducing tensions in the region to include a halt to Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.
He stressed that Hamas remains focused on reaching an agreement that would end Israel’s genocidal war on the Strip and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
Qassem added that the movement continues to engage positively with what he called “reasonable” proposals emerging from ongoing negotiations in Cairo.
He expressed hope that talks could lead to rapid progress toward ending the war and achieving a ceasefire.
Iranian Support
The Hamas spokesman said Iran has continued to provide political, military and material support to the Palestinian resistance.
He noted that Iranian officials have repeatedly declared their support for the Palestinian people and their right to resist Israeli occupation while simultaneously backing efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire.
Qassem also praised Tehran’s position regarding the interconnected nature of regional conflicts, arguing that Gaza should not be treated separately from wider developments in the region.
The comments echo discussions held days earlier between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya.
Al-Hayya-Araghchi Talks
During a telephone conversation last week, al-Hayya briefed Araghchi on developments in Gaza, ongoing Israeli attacks and efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire.
According to Iranian media reports, the Hamas leader praised Tehran’s position that regional ceasefire arrangements should address all fronts simultaneously rather than dealing with each conflict in isolation.
Al-Hayya also thanked Iran for its continued support for the Palestinian people and resistance groups operating in Gaza.
During the call, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements while pursuing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending regional conflicts.
The Iranian foreign minister also outlined Tehran’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives designed to reduce tensions and bring an end to the wars affecting the region.
Praise for Iran and Yemen
For his part, Qassem also praised the positions adopted by Iran and Yemen during recent confrontations with Israel.
He described their responses to Israeli attacks as an example of meaningful solidarity with Palestinians and Lebanese.
According to the Hamas spokesman, such support reflects what he called the “true form of solidarity” required during the current phase of the conflict.
He called on governments, organizations and popular movements across the region to expand efforts aimed at supporting Palestinians and resisting Israeli aggression.
