What if the Book of Enoch most people read today… isn’t actually the same text? In this episode of The Epic of Enoch, I travel to Oxford’s legendary Bodleian Library to examine some of the earliest English translations of Enoch alongside the ancient Ge’ez tradition they came from. What begins as a manuscript investigation quickly turns into something far stranger. Entire cosmological ideas appear to shift between translations. The “righteous” become interchangeable with “the Elect.” A populated divine hierarchy becomes simplified biblical language. And one disturbing passage transforms the offspring of the Watchers from “blood drinkers” and “oppressors” into something much safer. Because once you compare the texts side by side, the obvious question becomes impossible to ignore:
