The Anti-Vaccination Movement in Victorian England
A Discovered book study by Alfred Wallace
Rev. Kat Carroll
After 2020, most of us will never consider another vaccination. I had no idea that others had explored them as a problem so long ago!
Alfred Wallace on Vaccination
Alfred Russel Wallace, a prominent naturalist and co-discoverer of the principle of natural selection, was also a significant figure in the anti-vaccination movement in Victorian England. He argued that vaccination was both useless and dangerous based on statistical analyses and historical data. Here are some key points from Wallace’s work on vaccination:
- Forty-five Years of Registration Statistics: Wallace published a work titled “Forty-five Years of Registration Statistics, Proving Vaccination to be Both Useless and Dangerous,” where he analyzed mortality rates from smallpox in vaccinated and unvaccinated populations over a 45-year period. He concluded that there was no significant difference in mortality rates between the two groups.
- Vaccination: Proved Useless and Dangerous: Wallace’s book, published in 1885, compiled extensive statistical evidence to argue that vaccination was ineffective and harmful. He challenged the prevailing belief that vaccination reduced the incidence and severity of smallpox.
- Quantitative Critique: Wallace’s critique was supported by other notable physicians like Charles Creighton and Edgar Crookshank, who criticized simplistic interpretations of Edward Jenner’s work and highlighted the difficulties in determining vaccination success and status.
- Historical Context: Wallace’s opposition to compulsory smallpox vaccination was part of a broader social reform movement that included support for land nationalization and advocacy for spiritualism.
- Reprint and Availability: Wallace’s work has been reprinted and is available in various formats, including editions from publishers like Hansebooks and EnCognitive.com, making it accessible to modern readers interested in historical perspectives on vaccination.
- Impact on Debate: Wallace’s arguments had a significant impact on the vaccination debate in late 19th-century England, challenging the claims of pro-vaccinationists and contributing to the discourse on public health policy.

Think about it Wallace was showing how bad the programs were in the 1800s. Here we are in 2025. Can we honestly say that the benefits (if any) out weigh the dangers?
Have the WHO, CDC and other health organization really learned anything, or is there a reason they continue to push people to take the jabs?
Remember, you can stay healthy naturally, using nature as your guide. Plenty of rest, vitamin C from fruit, especially citric, as it promotes healing. This is where we get Quercetin, a flavonoid found in many fruits and vegetables that offers a variety of health benefits. It has been studied for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties and you can make your own at home.
Get under the sun. The sun is crucial in vitamin D production in the human body. When ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from the sun hit the skin, it triggers a process that starts the production of vitamin D. If you live in an area with low or limited light, then you may want to supplement with the vitamin. 5,000 iu daily my family was told by our doctor and he said most people are deficient in vitamin D.
Need some natural sources of vitamin D?

No doubt, you’ve heard about the importance of Zinc during cold and flu seasons. Did you know that at the moment of conception, zinc molecules produce a spark of light? The brighter the spark, the higher the quantity of the egg. I don’t think that’s a coincidence!

We also know that stress is a major factor in our health as it can reduce our immune function. If your watching the news, you’re probably pretty concerned over world events. Just remember, that’s a show that we can’t always prove, and Hollywood and certain programs are very good at deep fakes.
Add some time for meditation, especially if you have a busy schedule. You need to detach from this crazy world from time to time. Go within the quietness of your mind and let go. Or as my grandmother used to say, “Let go and let God”. If you have trouble focusing on a single thing, love is generally the answer. It raises your frequency and your body’s ability to fight of disease. When your experiencing love, you can’t experience fear! There is also music for healing and anxiety relief.
Wishing you good health, happiness and abundance in 2025! And good health is nothing to sneeze at! But… Did you know that endorphins are released when you sneeze?
