The Capricorn New Moon is your permission slip to choose the what, trust the unfolding, and move like the Fire Horse is already here.

I have been jaded lately, not because I have lost faith in life, but because I am tired of trying to solve it. I keep treating my existence like a problem to be cracked, like if I can just understand enough, plan enough, forecast enough, I will finally feel safe. I have realized something that keeps landing with more and more force. It is not our job to figure out the how.

Our job is to get clear on the what. Our job is to name what we want, what we value, what we are available for now. Then we align our energy with that truth and take the next honest step. Reality does the rest. Reality unveils the how through timing, doors, detours, conversations, and synchronicities that no spreadsheet could predict. When I forget that and try to force certainty, I burn out. When I remember it, life starts moving again.

Late last year I got laid off, and it forced this lesson into my body. I expected to feel panic. Instead I felt a strange kind of clarity. That job was a paycheck, but it was not fulfilling. I resented the work because it felt meaningless to me, like I was spending my life force on something that did not matter. The layoff felt like life interrupting the agreement I had been tolerating. I knew immediately that this was the reason. Not to punish me, but to redirect me. To give me space to stop performing and start pursuing what actually lights me up. And even though it made sense, it was still terrifying.

Since then I have been using this time as an opportunity to align myself energetically to what I am passionate about. I have been reminding myself that money comes when I stop abandoning myself. Not instantly and not magically, but inevitably, because I am no longer building my life on resistance. It is not my job to map every step or guarantee the outcome. It is my job to choose what is true for me and move in that direction until reality meets me there. This has not been easy, and is still a work in progress as I’m rewiring beliefs and behaviors that have been embedded for a very long time.

Astrology has been one of the tools that has helped me most. It has given me language to seasons, pressure points, openings, and initiations. It never fails me. And still, even with astrology, I notice that I sometimes feel over it, almost tired of the whole search for answers. When I sit with that feeling, I can see why. Sometimes I am not using astrology for insight. I am using it to negotiate with uncertainty. I am using it to try to control what is meant to unfold. But the truth is, astrology can describe the weather, but it cannot live my life for me. I am the only one who can do that.

And right on cue, the current astrology is mirroring this exact energy.

The Upcoming Capricorn New Moon on January 18, 2026

This New Moon lands at 28 degrees Capricorn at 2:52 PM Eastern. Capricorn is about commitment, integrity, long game energy, the part of us that gets serious about what we are building and what we are no longer willing to tolerate in ourselves. There is something about this lunation that feels like a sober assessment, the kind that does not come from harshness, but from maturity. It asks a simple question. What are you actually willing to commit to, and what are you done negotiating with?

What makes this New Moon even more interesting is the aspect pattern around it. This is not a quiet New Moon, the aspects tell me we are closing out an old story about responsibility and work, while also beginning a new story about freedom, authenticity, and the future. It is a foundation moment, but it is also a turning of the page.

This New Moon is trine Uranus and sextile Saturn and Neptune. Uranus trines are the kind of aspect that wake you up. They loosen old patterns and offer a new route, sometimes suddenly, sometimes like a quiet internal rebellion that simply will not go back to sleep. Saturn and Neptune together are a beautiful mix for anyone who is trying to build something real without losing their soul. Saturn is structure. Neptune is vision. Their supportive link to this New Moon feels like permission to let your dream be both mystical and practical at the same time, to stop acting like you have to choose between intuition and discipline.

There is also a real edge in the air because Mercury conjoins Mars right on the heels of this lunation, sharpening thoughts, words, and decisions. This is not the energy of endless processing. It is the energy of clear conversation, direct choices, and being done with ambiguity, especially the kind we use to avoid our own truth. Mercury is also sextile Saturn and trine Uranus, which is a potent combination for a plan that is both strategic and inspired. Translation- you can get the insight, choose the structure, and then take the brave step without waiting for the full map.

One more thing to note is that this New Moon opposes Jupiter. With Jupiter in Cancer at this time, that opposition can feel like a tension between emotional safety and worldly responsibility, between staying close to what is familiar and stretching into what is next. It can bring up the urge to retreat, to soothe, to rationalize why now is not the moment. It can also illuminate where you have outgrown your old comfort zone. It is a powerful aspect for asking what security really means. Is security staying in the known, or is security trusting yourself to build a life that actually fits.

Who Will Feel this Energy the Most?

If you have any personal planets or angles around 25 to 30 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn or 0 to 3 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius you will feel this New Moon the strongest. This energy may manifest as real life decision points, the endings and beginnings, the moments that feel like a threshold. You may have a strong internal knowing about what has to change, what has to be committed to, and what simply cannot continue.

The Year of The Fire Horse

I also would like to mention a larger energetic theme for this year. On February 17 the lunar calendar begins the Year of the Fire Horse. Fire Horse energy is movement and momentum. It does not reward overthinking. It rewards alignment and action, especially the kind of action that comes from self respect instead of panic. So when I feel jaded at my own searching, I try to hear it as intelligence. It is my system telling me I am done outsourcing my power to explanation. I am done using insight as a substitute for choosing.

This is the shift I am practicing now. I am releasing the need to know how it all will happen. I am getting clear on what I want, what I am building, what I am available for. I am aligning my habits and my energy with that truth. Then I take the next step that matches the version of me who already believes it is possible. Astrology still belongs in my life, but as a flashlight, not a maze. As timing and tone, not permission. As a mirror that confirms what I already know, not a machine that calms my anxiety by promising certainty.

Moving Forward…

If you want a simple way to work with this energy, make it less complicated than your mind wants it to be. Choose one true commitment. Choose one structure that supports it. Choose one conversation you have been avoiding. Choose one boundary that returns your energy to you. Let Uranus help you break the pattern. Let Saturn help you build the container. Let Neptune keep it sacred. Let Jupiter show you where comfort has become a cage. But you have to take the action. Then let life respond.

I think that is what this season is actually asking for. Not more analysis. Not more explaining. Not more trying to solve reality like it is a math problem. January 18 is a foundation moment, and it is also a permission slip. Build what matters. Say what is true. Take the step. Trust the unfolding.
