Light & Illumination: More Than a Bright Idea
Rev. Kat Carroll
God’s first spoken command, recorded in Genesis 1:3, is ‘Let there be light,’ bringing physical light into existence.
Light is required for nearly all life on Earth. Without it, we would flounder in darkness. It supports human health—strengthening our immune system, supporting bone health, and regulating mood and sleep cycles.
Plants depend on sunlight, and we depend on plants to absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and provide vital nutrients. Without the light of the sun, Earth would not exist as we know it.
Through this article, I’d like to explore how deeply light is woven into our existence—literally, scientifically, spiritually, and philosophically.
Spiritual and Channeled Light
“Victory of the Light” is a phrase often repeated by Cobra, an online channeler. But what does it mean?
It describes an anticipated global event in which so-called Light Forces achieve a decisive triumph over darker systems, ending an era of duality and suffering.
This event is described as a phase transition at a subquantum level—a hypothesized layer of reality underlying quantum mechanics—driven by what is called a syntropic inequation, a reversal of disorder and injustice or entropy. In this framework, the Event marks a return to order and coherence.
Many would agree we are witnessing the exposure and dismantling of broken systems across the world—followed by a return to order.
Ra was one of the most important deities in ancient Egyptian religion. By the Fifth Dynasty (25th–24th centuries BC), Ra was believed to rule over the sky, Earth, and underworld. He was associated with the sun, order, kingship, and divine authority.
In the 20th century, a group identifying as Ra was channeled by Carla Rueckert with the aid of Don Elkins between 1981 and 1984. These messages are compiled in The Law of One. If you have not explored them, they are widely available, including free sources online. (Listed at the end of this article)
Biblical Light
Jesus spoke of inner light—not to hide it, but to share it. In John 8:12, He states:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
This metaphor reflects divine revelation and truth dispelling spiritual darkness.
Similarly, 1 John 1:5 declares: “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.”
Long before modern science explored bioluminescence or biophotons, this idea was already present in spiritual teachings.
Biophotons Within the Body
We absorb light indirectly through fresh fruits and vegetables that store solar energy.
Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp (1938–2018), a German biophysicist, coined the term biophotons in 1984 to describe ultra-weak photon emissions from living systems. He found these emissions to be coherent (laser-like) and potentially involved in cellular communication, with DNA acting as a primary source.
DNA and the Quantum Wave
One of the more controversial figures in this space is Dr. Peter Gariaev (1942-2020), who proposed that DNA interacts with light in unusual ways.
In one reported experiment, DNA appeared to influence the behavior of surrounding photons. A helpful analogy is a single person in a stadium somehow drawing all light toward them—an image that captures the idea, even if the mechanism remains debated.
While mainstream science attributes the bending of light primarily to gravity, these alternative interpretations suggest DNA may interact with light in ways not yet fully understood.
He also conducted experiments sending green laser through salamander eggs and then redirecting the beam into frog eggs: the result of which were the frog eggs transformed into salamander eggs.
Illumination
To illuminate is to bring light—to make something visible and clear.
In a spiritual sense, illumination refers to having one’s inner perception opened—seeing truth more clearly and applying it in daily life.
In John 14:6, Jesus states: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
So what is the purpose of light?
The Bible teaches that individuals are called to be the light of the world—reflecting love, truth, and integrity through their actions. This is expressed in Matthew 5:14–16, where believers are encouraged to let their light shine so others may see and be uplifted.
Today, many who identify as light-workers see themselves fulfilling a similar role—bringing awareness, exposing deception, and striving to elevate collective understanding.
Some of you may be thinking Illuminati, but I’m not going to discuss that in this article.
I’d like you to consider that even in the darkest of times, there have been centers of light that have prevailed through human history. Real light and illumination is never lost.
Primordial Light
Primordial Light refers to several distinct concepts across science, mythology, and philosophy. In astrophysics, it is the 13.7 billion-year-old photons from the Big Bang—representing the oldest light in the universe, traveling across the cosmos for eons before ever being detected.
This word might conjure images of primordial chaos—but consider another perspective:
- Prime: a state of peak potential or origin
- Ordeal: a test or trial revealing truth
What if the “prime ordeal” is the experience of consciousness entering physical form? A spark of the divine held within. A being of light, in a garment of flesh—learning to remember its origin while navigating a dense world.
Science now suggests that humans emit measurable light, though not typically visible to the naked eye. This ultra-weak photon emission may be subtle, but it points to something profound: we are not merely observers of light—we participate in it. We embody light.
Light-Workers
The term light-worker was popularized by spiritual teacher Michael Mirdad in the 1980s. He described it as anyone who chooses to serve the greater good by embodying compassion, authenticity, and awareness.
A light-worker is not defined by role, but by intention—teachers, healers, artists, and everyday people can all express this quality.
If you feel called to bring clarity, kindness, or truth into the world, you may already be doing this work.
Light as a Frequency
Light exists across a spectrum of frequencies. Frequency refers to how many waves pass a point in a given time, measured in hertz.
Visible light ranges from approximately 430 trillion Hz (red) to 750 trillion Hz (violet), though much of the electromagnetic spectrum lies beyond human vision.

Light as a Healing Signal
Modern research is beginning to confirm what many traditions have long suggested—light can influence healing within the body.
Specific wavelengths, particularly in the red and near-infrared range, are now used in therapies that support tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and promote cellular energy production. This process, often referred to as photobiomodulation, works by stimulating the mitochondria—the energy centers of our cells.
While still gaining wider acceptance, these applications hint at a deeper principle: light is not only something we see, but something that interacts with us in meaningful and restorative ways.
Auras – The Light of the Body
Some individuals report perceiving auras—subtle fields of energy surrounding the body. These are often described as extending several feet outward and reflecting emotional or physiological states.

Kirlian photography, discovered in 1939 by Semyon Davidovich Kirlian, captures electrical discharge patterns around objects. While sometimes interpreted as “auras,” these images are generally understood as physical effects of high-voltage fields interacting with moisture and conductivity.
Technologies such as the AuraCamera 6000 (developed in the 1970s) and Kirlian photography attempt to visualize aspects of these fields. Even when a part of the plant has been clipped, or a finger is missing, the energetic outline remains, like a phantom.
What does that say about the nature of our true form? Nothing is lost if we are light.

Using Your Light
HeartMath Institute
The electromagnetic field generated by the heart plays a vital role in emotional coherence. When we attain heart brain coherence, we generate a soothing field of energy that reduces stress, promotes healing, and can open pathways in the brain for mystical experiences.
Generating EMF Through Meditation
Practices such as meditation, breath work, and focused intention may influence measurable physiological states, including heart rhythm patterns. It also helps to extend the heart’s electromagnetic field, while in a coherent state, which affects people around you in a positive way.
Distance Healing
Investigate studies and anecdotal reports exploring intention-based healing across distance, including Reiki and similar modalities. Thirteen years after my final Reiki III attunements, I discovered how light works in healing through quantum physics…. the light within you is shared to others, not just through touch, but through your intentions and visualization when sending your light to someone… And distance doesn’t matter.
Closing Thoughts
Obviously, light is important and an integral part of our life, and it’s often taken for granted. If light exists not only around us, but within us—then perhaps the question is not whether we carry it, but how we express it.
It’s important to recognize, that what you choose to focus on, is what receives a spotlight in your life. We can shift it from dark to light.
With our words, our actions, and our presence.
And if that light can influence others, even subtly, then every interaction becomes part of a larger field—one we are all helping to shape. In this regard, we illuminate others.
We bring good things to life Light!
I’d like to leave you with this new song I found today, and I was the first to give it a like!
