The Next Health Craze: Miracle or Manufactured?
A Reflection on Policy and Profit

A lot has been happening this week, enough to raise more eyebrows. Nuclear weapons testing resuming, and Russia stating they’ll do the same if the US does start testing and updating? We’ve had hurricanes, earthquakes, more plane crashes, and now a Shia Muslim from the Democrat Socialists side elected on the 4th to be New York’s Mayor! What is happening!
But this article is about what I witnessed today, and why it alarms me even more…
Do you recall back in 2020 and 2021, when the politicians and medical advisers were saying that it was important to get Covid vaccines to those marginalized individuals, the poor, and the elderly? They said it was about equity. And the shots were being widely advertised and pushed on world populations. I won’t repeat the rhetoric as I’m certain you all recall what was being said.
And several years later we see the long-term effects on fertility, heart and lung issues, blood clots and premature death in young adults as well as a massive number of senior citizens.
Today, October 6, 2025, Trump announced major price drops in weight loss medications that control hunger. Yes, they can help people lose weight fast, they can help with diabetes.
Unfortunately for most, they did not discuss side effects, especially possible long-term effects. We need better ways to tackle health problems. Some of us are wondering whether this is just another agenda.
And when a company representative collapsed during a drug pricing event in the Oval Office while President Donald Trump was seated at the Resolute Desk.
I could not help but be reminded of the numerous people who collapsed while talking about the benefits of the Covid vaccine they just took.
The shock of the moment reignited questions I’ve had about the safety of these so-called “miracle” drugs. Okay, “miracle” is my word, not theirs. But think about how hard these meds have been pushed in ads on TV and in social media over the past year.
Beyond the spectacle, the underlying issue does raise important health questions.
⚕️ The Risks Behind the “Miracle”
When a visit to the doctor to look at my eye, there was an obvious rush to find anything that might need treating. Despite having nothing to do with why I sought medical advise in the first place, shortly after I left, I was called and told I needed to start 3 types of blood sugar reducing medications. As I’ve had not symptoms, I was alarmed. And I couldn’t understand why a change in diet and daily routine wasn’t on the menu. I decided to do some digging of my own regarding the safety and efficacy of these types of drugs, and I’m glad I did. I did right an article about that experience: Healing or Harvesting? When Medicine Becomes the Market
GLP-1 weight-loss drugs may melt pounds quickly, but the side effects can “outweigh” the benefit if we’re not careful.
Common reactions include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, the result of food lingering too long in the stomach. Persistent nausea can cause dehydration, kidney strain, and malnutrition.
More serious concerns have surfaced:
- Pancreatitis — a painful, sometimes life-threatening inflammation linked to GLP-1 use.
- Gallbladder problems such as gallstones or infection, often triggered by rapid weight loss.
- Kidney injury, especially in those already vulnerable or dehydrated.
Cosmetically, many experience “Ozempic face,” the hollowed look that comes from losing not just fat but lean muscle, a condition called sarcopenia. Psychological shifts like anxiety, depression, or disordered eating can follow as the drug dulls appetite.
A caution label warns against use by anyone with a history of thyroid tumors, pancreatitis, or severe stomach paralysis, and doctors note potential complications during anesthesia due to slow digestion.
Finally, once people stop the shots, most regain two-thirds of the lost weight within a year. The hunger returns, but the bill and the risks remain. The same results came from Covid vaccines. You get the shot, then the boosters every so many months. Sounds all too familiar!!
Both Trump and Kennedy reminded us that true health isn’t a prescription. It requires active participation. Pills can’t replace self-care, and injections can’t teach discipline. But awareness can spark responsibility, and that’s where personal sovereignty begins.
Lasting results will require dietary changes and exercise at a level each individual can accomplish. I understand there are limitations for some seniors and people with disabilities. Do the best you can with what you’re able to do.
We’d all like a quick fix to a problem that no doubt took years to creep up on you, (myself included). But we need information. As with the Covid vaccinations, informed consent should have been part of the discussion while talking about mandates. This is different, as it’s voluntary. But it’s being discussed as a miracle drug that was only available to the elite and the celebrities. It’s that all to familiar “supply and demand” that makes people want to jump onto the bandwagon so they won’t miss out. But isn’t that psychological manipulation at play once again?
In moments like these, responsible journalism and personal discernment matter. We must hold ourselves and our media accountable for truth while remembering that sovereignty begins with awareness. In soon-to-be affordable drugs for all, why not consider some safe and natural weight loss alternatives?

Quick Summary for the above article:
- High-fiber foods like fruits and vegetables help you feel fuller longer and regulate appetite.
- Lean proteins help you consume fewer calories because they increase fullness hormones and suppress the hunger hormone, ghrelin.
- Healthy fats, like avocado, stimulate the satiety hormone, making you feel fuller, longer. In addition, exercise provides significant benefits for both the brain and body by enhancing cognitive function, protecting against neurodegenerative diseases, and improving overall physical health.
Besides helping with weight loss or weight control, recent research highlights that regular physical activity boosts blood flow to the brain, increases the production of neurotrophic factors like BDNF, and promotes neuroplasticity, which supports memory, learning, and mental resilience. You’ll sleep better too, and sleep is important for healing and brain function.
Moderate resistance and strength training can help you achieve weight loss, feel more comfortable and certainly improve self confidence. Muscle helps burns fat which is why is generally easier for men to lose weight than women. Moving your body doesn’t require an expensive gym membership… Dance, swim, practice Tai Chi or Yoga in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
It appears health has become the newest battlefield for control and profit. Therefor, the more we remember that our bodies are not corporate property, the freer we become. The more we take control over our life choices, the less we’ll rely on outside sources.
If the body is just the vehicle for our soul, you’ll get more mileage out of it if you take care of it. Nature gave us everything we need to live long, healthy, and happy lives!
