In this day and age, we forget how important it is to really get to know one another. We fall in love far too quickly, and we end up broken before things have even truly begun.
It is much easier to find a ‘lover’ than it is to find someone to spend your life with. Giving your all to someone who hasn’t even taken the time to get to know you is a sentence to failure from the start. While physical intimacy is great, true intimacy comes from sharing not just your body but also your mind and soul. I don’t want a lover that doesn’t know my favorite color. I want a lover that has seen me at my most vulnerable and been by my side when the rest of the world was tearing me apart.
I don’t want to go home the next day feeling as though I’ve lost a part of myself. I want to wake up replenished and aware of all that is to come. I want someone that can build me up in the ways I cannot build myself up, someone that will watch me slip and help me find a better place to plant my feet. I want what most people refuse to admit exists and so it’s not going to be easy.
Settling for something that doesn’t make my soul happy is not an option. We all deserve the love that we give and I have so much to offer. I want to look at the person I love and in his or her eyes, see all of my secrets. I want to be with someone I can trust with everything in this life, someone who will never run from the affection that I am offering.
If I cannot allow my vulnerable side to run free and still feel comfortable, I do not want to be with you. I want you to look at the mess that I am and love me for who I am on the inside. Sure, it might be hard at times, and we will have our fights but I want them all. I want the person who knows me best to be there by my side through the good times and the bad times.
Love is not something that comes before friendship and that is something a lot of people need to be reminded of. If you can’t call yourselves friends why are you calling yourselves lovers? If you cannot be friends you are not capable of being true lovers, there is no getting around it.
Once you’ve found someone who is your best friend and your love, who you can tell anything to you gain something most will never have. You find an eternal flame that cannot be put out. You grow together and become part of one another. I want a love that allows me to try any and everything all the while having a hand to hold through it all. I don’t want temporary, I want infinite.
As cliche and cheesy as it sounds, I want to be able to dance naked in the kitchen with someone who won’t think I’m crazy. Someone who will look at me while I’m doing the most obnoxious things like I put the stars in the sky. I want real love and no average ‘lover’ will do. I need someone in my life that can keep up in all the ways that those who are stuck obsessing over their bodies can offer. I need someone who knows me like no one else ever could.
When you’re tired of the things that those who only wish to use you ‘offer’ you too will see exactly what I mean. While they’re fun for a while, they are not what any of us truly need. Love is far too empty when we do not allow our soul to partake.

@Shaumbra. Best comment ever!
Amazing!
