About ten years ago a book wandered into my life. It was one of those books where you read the cover and think you are going to dive into one kind of experience but then you find yourself being transported into a magical realm of deep soul wisdom. Stephen Harrod Buhner’s book The Secret Teachings of Plants: The Intelligence of the Heart in the Direct Perception of Nature was one of those books. It was exactly what I needed to read to take me to the next level in my spiritual development. It is a beautiful book about what the direct experience of the heart in nature feels like and how that kind of experience can transform human beings and affect every aspect of their lives.
In the current crisis we find ourselves in, Stephen’s book is even more significant today. Truly the only real remedy for all of society’s ailments is the return to nature through the wisdom of the heart.
