Hidden History: How Much of the Da Vinci Code is True?

Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code was published in March 2003 and has sold over 80 million copies, making it one of the biggest bestsellers of all time. The 2006 film version of this novel, starring Tom Hanks, grossed over $750 million. The story begins with a murder in the Louvre Museum in Paris and involves cryptic clues in some of Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous paintings, which leads to the discovery of a secret society that has preserved key secrets about Jesus and Christianity for the past 2,000 years.
Although The Da Vinci Code was published as a work of fiction, it is based on controversial research from books like The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. I recently began reading a book by Dan Burstein called Secrets of the Code which compiled a large collection of research on the claims made in Brown’s novel. This includes art historians, theologians, scientists, archaeologists, and historians (some more into alternate history). Here are some of the themes and topics related to all this that we can explore during our call:
Could Jesus’s bloodline have survived even into modern times?
So, what are your thoughts on these topics? What were you taught growing up about God and religion that you have come to question or reject? How have you seen religious narratives being used to manipulate and control the masses? How do you go about seeking the Divine in your life?
