Disclosure: When Did UFO’s and ET’s Become a Threat?

Research by Rev. Kat Carroll
Buckle up, this is gonna be a long one! About a 35 minute read.

I had the honor of working behind the scenes with Rob Potter before his untimely death. Besides being a great member of Prepare for Change, what always impressed me was his steadfast belief that benevolent beings have been, and still are, working with humanity. In his case, those who come from Venus.

Soon I will share transcripts from voice recording he provided a few years back for his Shasta Conferences. I was told they came from Commander Valiant Thor and from the Lady Orda, Queen of Venus. You can find the information at the end of this article.

But first, a question:

What are the earliest accounts of strange objects or beings appearing among human populations, and how did people respond?

When the Visitors Were Gods

Long before people spoke of UFOs or extraterrestrials, ancient Indian traditions told of gods and celestial beings traveling through the heavens and engaging in extraordinary battles.

Vimana depicted in a temple relief, at Ellora Caves, India

The Mahābhārata recounts the great Kurukshetra War, traditionally placed more than 5,000 years ago, around 3100 BCE, although its historical date remains debated. According to Hindu tradition, Krishna’s later death in 3102 BCE marked the end of the Dvapara Yuga and the beginning of the Kali Yuga—placing these events at the transition between two great ages.

The stories were preserved through India’s ancient oral traditions for generations before being compiled and expanded over centuries into the Sanskrit epics that survive today. The oldest portions of the Mahābhārata are generally considered more than 2,000 years old.

Ancient Indian literature also contains descriptions of vimanas—celestial or aerial vehicles associated with gods, kings and warriors. The Ramayana describes the famous Pushpaka Vimana, an extraordinary aerial conveyance said to travel wherever its rider wished. The Mahābhārata describes something more martial: King Śālva’s Saubha, an airborne city or vehicle used in battle against Krishna and Dwaraka, appearing and disappearing from sight while weapons were launched from above.

Within these ancient stories we therefore find celestial beings, aerial conveyances, extraordinary weapons, brilliant light, fire and tremendous destruction—all described thousands of years before the modern concepts of aircraft, flying saucers or UFOs.

Were these simply mythological descriptions of battles among the gods, or could ancient people have been describing something they witnessed using the only language available to them?

Today, we might use very different words.

We might call them extraterrestrials and advanced technology.

Vimanas are described in the Mahabharata as advanced aerial vehicles used in epic battles, with the core text containing approximately 41 references to these flying machines.

I found a PDF that is apparently not in the public domain in any country. If you’re interested in exploring the subject further, a 1973 English translation of the controversial Vimanika Shastra can be read here. Although the surviving work is traced to an early-20th-century dictation rather than an authenticated ancient manuscript, it contains remarkably elaborate descriptions and illustrations of purported vimana technology.

There is an intriguing connection between these ancient stories and our own technological age.

Oppenheimer in 1948

Robert Oppenheimer, one of the principal scientists behind the development of the atomic bomb, studied Sanskrit and read the Bhagavad Gita—itself part of the Mahābhārata. After witnessing the first atomic bomb detonation at Trinity in 1945, he later recalled a passage from the Gita:

“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”

Thousands of years after an ancient epic described a devastating war involving extraordinary celestial weapons, one of the men responsible for creating humanity’s most powerful weapon found himself contemplating words from that same ancient story.

Perhaps there is a lesson hidden within that remarkable convergence.

There is a YouTube video depicting images of the Vimana flying craft, highly advanced technology that should have been impossible at the time:  Vimanas: The Ancient Flying Machines of India  (only 2 min 50 sec)

Where did they go?

Swords into Plowshares

Human history reveals an uncomfortable pattern: some of our greatest technological breakthroughs have first been developed, accelerated or funded for warfare, with peaceful applications only following years later.

Nuclear fission provides a striking modern example. The first controlled nuclear chain reaction occurred in 1942 as part of the wartime effort that became the Manhattan Project. The first atomic weapon was tested at Trinity in July 1945 and atomic bombs were used against Hiroshima and Nagasaki weeks later. Only afterward did nuclear technology begin its transition toward producing electricity for civilian populations.

As many of you know, that’s the time when UFO’s began appearing in earnest over the US and around the world. They were no doubt concerned about our use of this technology.

First the weapon. Then the power plant.

The ancient words of Isaiah offers a reminder: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares.”

As humanity discovers more technologies—or civilizations—far beyond our present understanding, perhaps the question is not simply whether we are technologically ready, but if we are spiritually ready.

Are we ready to encounter something extraordinary without first asking how it might be used as a weapon?

There are other tales of visitation and even battles over the Earth similar to the Mahabharata battle over India.

Nuremberg Germany Celestial Event

In 1561 over Nuremberg, Germany, people saw something inexplicable in their skies. It looked like a battle between various shaped aircraft. The public interpreted the unexplained phenomenon according to their existing worldview—as signs or messages from the heavens, not necessarily invading enemies.

The celestial phenomenon over the German city of Nuremberg on April 14, 1561, as printed in an illustrated news notice in the same month a wood cut created to recall that event.

You can read more about the event and the actual report at that time here: 1561 celestial phenomenon over Nuremberg

The Mystery Airships of the 1800s

A wave of sightings occurred between 1896 and 1897, and, as usual, were often dismissed as being likely newspaper hoaxes. Sounds a bit like Roswell, doesn’t it?

“Skeptically minded researchers have argued in the past what only seemed logical: that the technology to build aircraft similar to dirigibles simply didn’t exist in the nineteenth century, at least on a scale to match the descriptions of aircraft being witnessed at the time.” – Credit Airships in the 1800s: An Odd History of Aerial Phenomena

It’s fascinating to see the history which was denied, or considered a hoax, just like the UFO stories. Yet there were people involved in their creation.  One such person was Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a German General and creator of the Zeppelin rigid airships.

They feature an internal aluminum or steel framework that maintains their shape, allowing them to house multiple gas cells filled with hydrogen or helium for lift. Frightening to know that they were powered by internal combustion engines and can be steered under their own power.

They were used for transatlantic passenger travel and military reconnaissance before the era ended with the Hindenburg disaster in 1937.

Zeppelins and other early airships were frequently misidentified as UFOs or extraterrestrial craft in the early 20th century due to technological naivety and wartime paranoia. Here are reports from my neighborhood: The Phantom Airships: America’s First UFO Wave

Before Count Zeppelin launched his rigid framed airships, there were the Montgolfier brothers who created the first hot air balloons in 1783. One article states that these were The First Identified UFO.

I find it interesting how something new in the sky, even the most simple technologies, can generate stories of UFOs and alien visitors! In the modern era with our nearly immediate dissemination of information via the internet, it’s getting harder to confuse the public (whether on purpose or accidentally). A lot of modern-day UFO sightings are now identified as experimental aircraft, and even formerly classified craft used for spying and warfare.

Strange Aerial Phenomena in the Modern Era

Why is it that reports of strange aerial phenomena so often seem to appear during times of war? Even the ancient stories of the Mahābhārata described unusual aerial vehicles and celestial observers amid terrible conflict.

During World War II, Allied and Axis airmen reported mysterious glowing objects accompanying their aircraft. American pilots gave them a peculiar name that has survived ever since: Foo Fighters.

Some appeared as red, orange or green balls of light. They could follow aircraft, maneuver rapidly and then disappear. Pilots naturally wondered whether they were encountering some kind of secret enemy technology. Yet the mysterious lights reportedly did not attack them—and some weren’t detected by either airborne radar or ground control.

Whatever they were, they seemed to be observing rather than engaging.

For those familiar with Star Trek, it is difficult not to think of the Prime Directive: observe a developing civilization, but don’t interfere with its natural development.

Today, witnesses continue to report mysterious balls or spheres of light commonly called orbs. Are modern orb reports related in any way to the Foo Fighters of World War II? Are they natural atmospheric or electrical phenomena, manifestations involving consciousness, some form of vehicle—or evidence of non-human intelligence?

We simply don’t know.

But once again, something unexplained appeared in our skies during a period of human warfare—and despite the understandable suspicion of the pilots who encountered them, the objects themselves apparently did not engage in the fighting.

Historical Timeline (Partial)

  • 3100 BC – Epic tales of battles in the heavens while battles raged on Earth
  • 905 CE – China, the Tang Dynasty describes a large, star-like object that paused mid-air, changed direction, and emitted flames, defying conventional meteor explanations.
  • 1195 – Described by the 12th-century monk Gervase of Canterburyas a “fiery globe” near the River Thames near London.   Another early account from 1254 in St Albans documented a glowing, ship-shaped light in the sky. (There were several wars near that time)
  • 1235 CE – Japan conducts the first known official investigation into such phenomena.
  • 1250 – Chili’s earliest reported UFO incident. And, they have the most reported sightings of any country to this day.
  • 1561 – Nuremberg Germany Celestial Battle.
  • 1783 Hot air balloons are invented and confused with UFOs
  • 1896 and 1897 – Zeppelin Airships are introduced and misidentified as UFOs
  • 1917 – WWI – Reportedly, about 4,000 members of the Royal Norfolk Regiment were “abducted” by UFOs during the catastrophic Gallipoli Campaign. Eye witnesses said that the soldiers were snatched by aliens who swooped down on the battlefield looking like huge gray-colored clouds. https://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/the-red-baron-the-great-war-and-ufos.html
  • 1940 – UFO Crash in England during the war that went to Rudloe Manner, Britains Area 51, with most of the facility hidden underground. Stories came forward from American columnist Dorothy Kilgallen, who stated that a high-ranking British official informed her that the British government recovered a crashed spacecraft and its crew during the war. Dorothy was also involved in investigating JFK’s assassination when she died. This fueled speculation about the cause of her death but nothing that could be verified.
  • 1942 – The Battle of Los Angels
  • 1945 – First Atomic Weapons tested and used during war
  • 1947 – Roswell

As you can see, beyond the images left on cave walls and in very old art, there has always been a fascination with the visitors. But when did they become a threat?

The Atomic Age Changes Everything

If the mysterious objects encountered by pilots during World War II were observing rather than engaging, humanity soon gave any outside observer something extraordinary to observe.

We had entered the Atomic Age.

But something else was changing at almost exactly the same time. As World War II ended, the United States began constructing a new, permanent intelligence and national-security apparatus.

The wartime Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was dissolved in September 1945, while portions of its intelligence operations continued through the Strategic Services Unit. The following year, President Truman created the National Intelligence Authority and Central Intelligence Group, precursors to the Central Intelligence Agency.

Then came the National Security Act of 1947, establishing the CIA and reorganizing America’s military and national-security structure.

And look at that year again….1947 – When everything changed.

Operation High Jump (1946–1947) and also known as Task Force 68, was the largest Antarctic expedition to date at the time. Admiral Byrd saw flying saucers that in later reports he claimed could fly from pole to pole rapidly – In June, pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine unusual objects flying near Mount Rainier, giving rise to the modern term “flying saucer.”

The Roswell Incident occurred just weeks later in July. The summer of 1947 saw a “flying disc craze” with numerous sightings across the American Southwest, the Roswell incident remains the only case where debris was officially recovered. Most, if not all of you know, the official news report was retracted, and changed to a weather balloon, later that report was changed again to project Mogul, crash dummies dumped from a balloon. Their 1997 report used anthropomorphic dummies to explain later reports of bodies—but those dummy drops didn’t begin until the 1950s, years after the Roswell incident.

The behavior surrounding reporting and the recovery appears disproportionate to the explanation of an ordinary weather balloon.

The military was sent out in large numbers to pick up every scrap of debris. If it was just a weather balloon, why the need to pick up artifacts that the Navy said they would not record, because it was “just” a weather ballon?

Rancher W.W. “Mack” Brazel and his family were reportedly threatened with prison time or death if they spoke about the debris they discovered on their property. His son, Bill Brazel, later claimed an Air Force officer demanded he turn over additional pieces he had found, leveraging the military’s serious attitude to ensure compliance.

Why announce a “flying disc” then rapidly reverse the explanation? Why were some relevant records later destroyed without a surviving record of who authorized the destruction? Why do several people associated with the event later describe materials they regarded as extraordinary?

According to declassified FBI memos and historical correspondence, high-powered radar installed in New Mexico is cited as the cause of UFO crashes near Roswell by attributing the incidents to signal interference. And according to insiders like Sgt. Clifford Stone, there was at least one survivor which communicated telepathically.

What is beyond dispute is that UFOs had attracted the attention of the United States military—and an apparatus was created to investigate matters under the umbrella of “national security” and secrecy. Or did destructive military actions attract UFOs?

1951 – The original movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still, about a benevolent visitor with a gift for humanity. But the military chose to shoot at him before ever learning why he had come at this time.  Klaatu delivered a stern ultimatum warning that humanity must stop its violent ways and nuclear arms race or face total destruction. Klaatu emphasized that this did not mean giving up freedom, except for the “freedom to act irresponsibly,” and stated that “there must be security for all, or no one is secure.” The message concluded with the choice: “Join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration.” He further explained that how humanity conducted itself on Earth was not their concernunless we threatened to extend our violence beyond this planet.

Yes it was “just a movie” and “face obliteration” was probably for emphasis. There are multiple witness stories from abductees who say the ET were warning us about our nature, and the ability we were developing to destroy ourselves. And that Atomic detonations may affect multiple planes or dimensions, including off world. On Earth, we simply called it Mutually Assured Destruction.

Secrecy began in earnest following 1947 – The Air Force established Project Sign in 1948, followed by Project Grudge in 1949 and Project Blue Book in 1952.

After two world wars and the development of atomic weapons, virtually anything unknown flying through restricted airspace would understandably be viewed as a potential enemy.

The question was no longer simply: What is it?

It became:

Who controls it?
What can it do?
Can it be used against us?
And inevitably—can we learn how to build one ourselves?

That question has been answered by Dr. Steven Greer through his hundreds of interviews with people on the inside. And now, Dr. Greer is stating in this report… Dr. Steven Greer to release “hard evidence” in the next 60 days unless the government tells him in writing otherwise

Dr. Steven Greer has placed a deadline on disclosure. In a June 29, 2026 letter addressed to senior government officials, he stated that unless he receives written direction from an authorized U.S. government official by August 29, his organization intends to seek additional evidence from its whistleblower contacts and release it publicly. Greer has characterized what is unfolding as “catastrophic disclosure”—not catastrophic for humanity, but potentially for institutions and programs that he alleges have operated illegally behind layers of secrecy.

That deadline is fast approaching.

Who Does the Secrecy Benefit?

Something that had once been regarded as mysterious, curious, spiritual—or even occasionally humorous—was increasingly being viewed through the lens of national security.

But what exactly do we mean by national security? We hear the phrase so often that we rarely stop to consider what—or whom—it is intended to protect.

At its most basic level, national security should protect the nation and its people. Yet Americans don’t always agree on the proper relationship between government and the individual. One political philosophy places greater emphasis on collective responsibility and government action, while another emphasizes individual liberty, limited government and personal responsibility.

For the purposes of this discussion, that distinction raises an important question:

When information is withheld in the name of national security, are we protecting the people—or deciding what the people are permitted to know?

Were counterintelligence, the CIA and other groups partly responsible for the change in attitudes toward UFOs after WWII?
Did UFOs suddenly become threatening, or did our perception of them change because humanity had entered the Cold War?

And what might governments, military organizations, private corporations or others gain by suppressing information about ET, UFOs or advanced technology?

Cui bono—who benefits? And more importantly, who controls the narrative?

When former intelligence and counterintelligence officials become some of the principal public interpreters of an unexplained phenomenon—and those interpretations are amplified through television, publishing and film—and Congressional Hearings, are we receiving disclosure, or are we also receiving a particular framing and agenda for disclosure?

Whistleblowers, Insiders and Experiencers

During congressional UAP hearings in recent years, witnesses have included people with impressive backgrounds in the U.S. military and intelligence community.

Among the most prominent were David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer who served with the Defense Department’s UAP Task Force; Commander David Fravor, the former Navy pilot involved in the famous 2004 “Tic Tac” encounter; and former Navy F/A-18 pilot Ryan Graves.

U.S. Army counterintelligence special agent and former Department of Defense official Luis Elizondo, who previously headed the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, has stated unequivocally that UAP are real and alleged that the U.S. government has conducted secret crash-retrieval programs while withholding information from Congress. He testified under oath at the November 13, 2024 joint House Oversight subcommittee hearing, “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” where he characterized UAP as a “very serious national security issue” and a “potential existential threat.”

Their testimony brought unprecedented public attention to unexplained objects operating in our airspace and raised legitimate questions about aviation safety, government transparency and national security.

But another question deserves to be asked:

Where were the real and everyday experiencers in those Hearings?

Where were the civilians—and even former military personnel—who have reported direct contact and could offer a very different perspective on the intentions of these visitors?

Much of the modern discussion focuses on UAP as potential hazards or threats. Reports include near misses with aircraft and objects entering restricted military airspace. Some incidents have subsequently been attributed to drones, balloons or other conventional objects, while others remain unexplained.

Official government reports have also acknowledged reports of objects exhibiting unusual flight characteristics, including appearing to remain stationary against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed without discernible means of propulsion.

Within UAP research, several recurring characteristics are often referred to as the Five Observables:

  1. Instantaneous acceleration — sudden and extreme changes in speed.
  2. Hypersonic velocity without signatures — extraordinary speed without the expected sonic boom, exhaust plume or heat signature.
  3. Low observability — objects that are difficult to detect or consistently track.
  4. Transmedium travel — apparent movement between air, water and possibly space without an obvious change in performance.
  5. Positive lift — remaining airborne without visible wings, rotors or conventional propulsion.

If even some of these reported capabilities are genuine, they raise an interesting question.

If these objects demonstrate technology capable of dramatic outperformance of our fastest aircraft, why are they primarily being discussed as a threat?  And – If they intended to attack us, haven’t they had ample opportunity?

If they can evade our most advanced aircraft seemingly at will, perhaps the more interesting question is not what they could do to us.
Perhaps we should consider what we could do to them. Who is the real threat to whom?

A Different Narrative

If we look back to the beginning of the cold war, there were stories being told of visitations or contact through devices, and some who claimed to have met people from other worlds or even from our future. Their stories of contact came with warnings. Not to frighten us, but to educate us.

George Adamski claimed to have met a Venusian named Orthon November 20th, 1952. It was near Desert Center, California. Communicating telepathically and with hand gestures, Orthon delivered a specific warning to Earth. It was an urgent plea to stop atomic bomb testing.

Orthon warned that nuclear explosions were sending dangerous radiation into space, which would not only destroy humanity but also contaminate other planets and disrupt the cosmic harmony. These claims were later expanded on in his best-selling book Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953).

He claimed that all planets in the solar system are inhabited by benevolent, spiritually evolved beings. He positioned himself as a messenger for these “Space Brothers,” who were concerned with humanity’s self-destructive tendencies and sought to guide Earth toward peace and spiritual enlightenment.

Phillip Corso
claimed to have had a telepathic encounter with a non-human entity in a cave at Red Canyon Range Camp in 1957 while commanding the 552nd Missile Battalion.

According to Paola Harris who had spoken with Colonel Corso, she recounts him telling her about a personal encounter at White Sands Missile Range, which she places in 1957. According to Harris, Corso saw a craft appearing and disappearing and encountered a small humanoid being wearing a helmet.

Corso reportedly pulled his gun and asked: “Friend or foe?” – The answer was: “Neither.”

Corso was a military man, so he framed the encounter in the most fundamental military binary: friend or enemy? According to his account, the being refused the binary altogether. The being then reportedly asked Corso to shut down the radar so it could leave. Corso asked what he would receive in return.

The answer Harris says Corso never forgot was:

“A new world if you can take it.”

Harris specifically characterized the episode as “not an abduction—it was contact.” You can listen to that interview with Ivan of UFO Disclosure Bulgaria here.

This account is also mentioned in an online copy of Corso’s unpublished manuscript Dawn of a New Age contains his own description of the exchange. (free PDF)

Sgt. Clifford Stone was a U.S. Army Sergeant and whistleblower who claimed to have served on covert crash retrieval teams from 1969 to 1990, acting as an interface with ET as he was an empath and could sense their emotions and intentions. He asserted that he communicated with 57 different extraterrestrial races, most of which he described as benevolent and intent on helping humanity rather than invading.

He detailed personal interactions with beings who appeared human-like or insectoid, noting that they possessed advanced technology capable of deflecting bullets and that they viewed humans with a mix of curiosity and humor.  UFO Disclosure Bulgaria has many interviews with Clifford that you may find interesting.

I’m certain there are many more accounts like these. I’ve always felt the NHI were benevolent and my contact experiences certainly depicted their peaceful and helpful intentions. Some have claimed to be time travelers helping guide humanity through the rough spots in our history. Whether you believe this or not, the messages are consistent. They are here to help, not harm, nor threaten National Security.

Entertainment and Disclosure

Ewoks fighting storm troopers

Hollywood movies present the visitors from two perspectives, the kind and benevolent as in Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET the Extraterrestrial. And then we have movies like Independence Day and Star Wars. Those paint a dark and frightening picture, but with humans kicking their butts in the end, sometimes with the help of short and furry Ewoks of Endor. Yes, it’s a story, but what a great ending.

We are influenced by what we hear and see in entertainment and in the news. But ultimately, what to think should remain ours, and not be in the hands of others. This is what being sovereign is about, personal responsibility for our words and actions.

More recently, an August 14 interview with Dr. Michael Salla offered another extraordinary variation on this theme. Experiencer and clinical psychologist Dr. Katharine Milano described what she believes was a confrontation near the Moon involving human and extraterrestrial groups, with some of those nonhuman groups intervening defensively.

Milano made further extraordinary claims involving a German breakaway civilization she called the “Dark Fleet” and a larger conflict beyond Earth. These claims are presently unverified, reportedly received in part through telepathic communication, and I could find no independent information to substantiate them. But there are books like this:

The Secret Space Age: Secret Space Programs, Breakaway Civilizations, Nazi UFOs, SDI and Alternative Three

Yet the underlying narrative is worth noticing because it, too, turns the familiar alien-invasion story on its head:
What if some nonhuman civilizations are not threatening humanity, but have been attempting to prevent a destructive faction of humanity from extending its conflicts beyond Earth?

This new interview echoes something I have encountered repeatedly throughout this investigation: perhaps we have been looking in the wrong direction when asking where the threat comes from.

And Then There’s My Friend, Rob Potter (God Rest His Soul)

At the beginning of this article, I mentioned Rob’s steadfast belief that benevolent beings from Venus were/are working quietly with humanity. Before his passing, Rob shared recordings of communications he attributed to Commander Valiant Thor and Lady Orda (Queen of Venus) and with what he called the Venusian Hierarchy of Light. I personally transcribed them for him and will soon be posting the video on the Prepare for Change front page.

Whatever your feelings or conclusions about the origin of these communications, their messages are remarkably consistent with many of the contact accounts we’ve already examined.

And though I sometimes argued with him, I’ve become less of a skeptic after this research.

In a message attributed to Valiant Thor and presented at Rob’s 2022 Mount Shasta Venus Conference, there was no talk of humanity needing to prepare for an extraterrestrial enemy. Instead, listeners were encouraged to remain in agape love, to show kindness toward their brothers and sisters on Earth, and to allow their hearts to become filled with love for all. – Here is the article from his Website: Message from Valiant Thor and Venusian Hierarchy Answers Questions – Solar Warming

Messages attributed to Lady Orda, the queen of Venus, carried a similar theme. Humanity’s evolution, according to these communications, cannot simply be imposed upon us by more advanced beings, (much like the Star Trek Prime Directive). We must learn to reconcile our differences with cooperation and mutual respect.

It seems to me that the lesson running quietly through so many of these contact stories is basically the same. The visitors don’t come to save humanity from humanity – They encourage humanity to change and save itself. We have to become our own saviors!

And having recently watched Disclosure Day, some statement still stands out in my mind:

“What kind of humanity do we choose to be in the face of the unknown?”

And Disclosure Day answers: “Don’t be afraid of what you don’t know.”

And once again, the recurring message isn’t conquest.
It’s love, personal responsibility, cooperation, compassion, and peace.

What we do to one, we do to all as we are all connected.

A music video I created for one of Rob’s Shasta conference seems appropriate for an ending song.
