Oct. 2015 Global Privacy Treaty initiator Edward Snowden, Glenn Greenwood and David Miranda This video displays the transscript of the talk, including the link to source, with my works of art. David Miranda: “It’s because the public is demanding it. The public is telling them, “We won’t use your services if we think you’re going to collaborate with governments and hand over our data to the NSA and to the GCHQ and to other surveillance agencies around the world.” When governments control citizens in secrecy, the people in the streets will at some point turn the table on them. It strikes me as a happy surprise, that David Bowie ends an interview by saying “It’s the grey space in the middle, that’s what the 21st century is about” I think he’s spot on. Governments, when truly protectors of nations and counties’s safety of living conditions,, need to be as much exposed as all global citizens under surveillance of cameras and border-regulations. Often the latter are offensive to our privacy and deny our human rights to choose not to be exposed in that way. Freedom can never be granted by others, as part of some form of trade. Freedom is an innate human right and although we’ve got a way to go, that “grey space in the middle” that’s what the Global Privacy Treaty is about, as I perceive it.
