The Ori, Ascension, and the Sovereignty of Consciousness
Stargate SG1 and Entities that Demand Devotion

Rev. Kat Carroll

It began with a late-night video. Another GFL Station message with curious transmissions about ascension, disclosure, and why the timeline keeps stretching like a cosmic rubber band. I call it “kicking the can down the road”. But as I listened, there was a reminder in what was being said to a popular Science Fiction show.

Even half-asleep, something clicked that grabbed my full attention. A recognized pattern…. A kind of déjà vu. So at 11:30, I crawled out of my warm bed to jot down notes for this article.

If you have never watched Stargate SG-1, then what I’m about to say may sound strange. But anyone who has followed the series, you too may notice the arcs, its mythologies, and quiet truths hidden in plain sight; you may understand exactly why my mind lit up.

The more I listened to the message, the more it echoed the storylines of Stargate which includes:

  • ancient wars
  • lost civilizations
  • false gods
  • ascended beings with competing agendas
  • forbidden interventions
  • cosmic ethics
  • the struggle for sovereignty

Beyond Stargate, it mirrored conversations in Exopolitics including Michael Salla’s interviews and the testimonies Dr. Steven Greer has been sharing from whistleblowers with increasing urgency. Stories that may not yet be mainstream, but woven through ancient texts, such as the ancient Vedic accounts of heavenly wars between the gods (devas) and demons (asuras), often portraying these conflicts as cosmic struggles between order and chaos.

Sci Fi shows like Battlestar Galactica is similar with its battle against the AI Ceylons and longing to find humanity’s forgotten home.

Lately, I’ve been re-watching SG-1 again, and it’s remarkable what you see the second, third, (or more times) you watch them.

I’ve reached the point in the saga at the end of season 8 and beginning of season nine.

  • The Goa’uld have finally been overthrown.
  • The free Jaffa are trying to build a government after generations of control (as we are in reality)
  • The AI Replicators — another existential threat, have been destroyed
  • Peace feels possible for the first time in ages.

And then, when it seems the universe might exhale, a new force arrives.

The Ori

When I think of Ori, I also think of Orion’s belt, the area where reptilian type beings came to influence humanity. In recent decades, especially through the David Ike, the Draco Reptilians carry a stigma of being hidden rulers not so beneficial to mankind. Reptilion and snake like entities were first introduced in the Stargate movie, the snake like beings that took control of human bodies and demanded obedience worship.

In looking up Orion, I found One theory suggesting it comes from the Greek word horion, meaning “boundary” or “limit,” possibly symbolizing Orion’s status as a giant or his placement among the stars.  It also carries a spiritual connotation, symbolizing moral and divine limits set by God. In our context, it could be the boundary of human consciousness which could be broken through during the ascension process.

After listening to the GFL and hashing this out in my mind, I decided to do a bit of research as to the meaning of some of the words associated with Stargate, and found this:

“Orí, literally meaning “head,” refers to one’s spiritual intuition and destiny. In the Yoruba religion, Ori is a central metaphysical concept representing the spiritual intuition, destiny, and inner self of an individual. It is the reflective spark of human consciousness embedded into the human essence, and therefore is often personified as an Orisha, a divine spirit or spirits, sent by the supreme creator to assist humanity and to teach them.

It goes on to say that “human beings are able to heal themselves both spiritually and physically by working with the Orishas to achieve a balanced character. When one has a balanced character, one obtains an alignment with their divine self. It is also believed that Orí be worshiped. When things are not going right, Orí should be consulted.

The writers of Stargate must have had an interesting background in world religions and archeology to come up with something so spot on in their show!

Ascended Masters

When Danield Jackson was dying from radiation exposure, he was given an opportunity to ascend to the higher realms. He was offered a choice. The Ascended Masters such as Oma Desai from the series do not actively interfere with free will. They believe it’s up to the individual to decide their fate. They don’t need to be venerated or worshipped as deities but do appear in final moments to help one choose their path. And in all the images I have ever seen of ascended masters, there is a certain light and beauty that radiates from them.

Not so with the Ori of Stargate who claim to be ascended themselves.

In one of my recent articles, I mentioned the Zoroastrian principles of “good thoughts, good words, and good deeds”, and how in their temples, they have a living flame. Not one that is idolized but as a reminder of the flame within each of us.

For the Ori, this concept is distorted and so are those who preach their doctrine of “Origin”. Devout followers (in the Stargate canon) are taken before the living flame, but instead of receiving information, they are possessed. The flame becomes:

  • a conversion tool
  • a possession gateway
  • a hijack of free will under the guise of enlightenment

This is symbolism at its sharpest, is a sacred act inverted into an instrument of control.

Once possessed, they are now called the Priors of the Ori. They are highly evolved human beings who act as missionaries, traveling to different planets to spread the religion of Origin. In the process of artificial evolvement, they are changed. Their look is as distorted as the teachings they spread.

The become prematurely aged, gray-haired, with cataract-white eyes – This is not meant to convey wisdom.

The cataracts represent, lost clarity, distorted vision, inability to see truth, and perception filtered through doctrine

The aged appearance represents spiritual atrophy, drained life force, devotion exploited, and vitality replaced with fanaticism.

This is what false ascension looks like – old, brittle, hollow, blind. The life force energy drained from their unwitting followers.

SG-1 was showing the difference between false gods and true awakening.

And just as important — the tactics the Ori use to enforce belief. Their Priors are not simply missionaries; they behave like the zealots of some of humanity’s darkest chapters. This echoes the Spanish Inquisition, where individuals were forced to abandon their spiritual identity under the threat of torture or death. Secret trials, coerced confessions, public executions — all tools designed to break sovereignty and reshape belief through fear.
That fear ultimately lead to control of whole populations.

Likewise, in SG-1, the Priors of the Ori do not merely preach Origin. They enforce it. They are willing to burn cities, wipe out villages, and destroy entire worlds that refuse to convert. What the Inquisition did to communities on Earth. The Ori do on a galactic scale.

There is a supreme ruler of the Ori faith, and he is called the Doci. Of course, I had to look up the word and found this:

Doci comes from the Albanian root: “do” → to want, to desire. So Doci = “the one who wants” or “the one who desires.”

A perfect match to the character’s function: Doci = The One Who Desires to Be Like the Gods.

This is mythically consistent with:

  • the fall of the Watchers
  • the Nephilim
  • Luciferian myths
  • overreaching priests
  • imperial prophets
  • ego-based ascension
  • false-light intermediaries

The Doci is not enlightened but acts as though he is. He has great powers but rules by fear and threats. He is possessed by his desire to be worshiped and thus becomes a mouthpiece for those who pretend to be divine. The Doci and the Priors talk about ascension, but they never grant it to their followers as to do so would mean having to share power.

SG-1 wasn’t critiquing religion. It was critiquing authoritarian spirituality.

And when the Ark of Truth is finally opened (in a movie by the same name) that ancient device designed not to control but to reveal, even the Doci, Priors and their army are freed. Not conquered. Freed. The possession breaks, the false light collapses, and they remember who they truly are beneath the layers of indoctrination and influence. It is a powerful reminder that truth does not destroy; it liberates.

The real disclosure is consciousness itself, illuminated by inner reflection and shadow work to improve ourselves naturally — not through artificial means or technology, but through remembering our divinity and sovereign self, connected to Source.

Why it matters now…

As we stand at the precipice of great change, we are being offered a profound choice — a choice every myth, every ancient text, and every science fiction parable has warned us about in its own way. Will we pursue advancement through technology alone, drifting toward a transhuman future where machine and mind blur? Or will we allow ourselves to naturally evolve, awakening the spiritual senses and gifts that return when consciousness rises?

Humanity is not waiting for disclosure. We are disclosure.

Once we withdraw our attention from the spectacle, the congressional hearings, the manufactured crises, the carefully curated narratives, we begin to sense that the real unveiling happens internally. Through intuition. Through cleansing our emotional field. Through the quiet work of shadow integration and remembering that the spark within us is older than any empire, council, or federation.

Ancient religions that preserve echoes of our origins — and science fiction that dares to explore them, offer us insite, not of what was, but of what we are once again becoming. And they consistently circle the same archetypes:

  • civilizations that forgot who they were
  • beings who sought to control others through fear or divinity
  • remnants of lost worlds searching for home
  • prophets who claimed enlightenment while serving only themselves
  • advanced societies that fell because they abandoned wisdom for power (i.e. Atlantis)

Will we, like the refugees of Battlestar Galactica, wander in confusion trying to remember the way home? Will we, like countless civilizations in Stargate, rise against empires that demand obedience and worship? Will we follow the false prophets of our age — technological, religious, or political — who claim to offer salvation but lead us deeper into dependence?

The choice is not theoretical. It is happening now, at the level of consciousness. And the message embedded in stories like SG-1 becomes clear:

True ascension cannot be given. It cannot be forced. It must be chosen, earned, and remembered.

The Ori demand worship.
The Ancients protect free will.

Humanity must decide which path it will emulate.

As we move deeper into this era of global awakening, let us remember:

  • Sovereignty is sacred.
  • Discernment is protection.
  • Free will is the foundation of consciousness.
  • True guides never demand belief — they inspire recognition.
  • And ascension is not escape; it is alignment with our highest nature.
  • We are not waiting for a savior. We are becoming the beings we once looked for in the sky.

Humanity is at a turning point, not just technologically or politically, but spiritually. We yearn for something greater, to become more than we are, and we are on the precipice of  heightened consciousness, or ascension. However, many are expecting the final push to come from something external, be it extraterrestrials, the return of a Christed being like Jesus, or even 3I Atlas, as a catalyst for change.

What if the human heart is the true Stargate of humanity’s awakening, the gateway through which remembrance, truth, finally guide us home? Perhaps all we need do is dial in the proper codes; those of love, compassion, gratitude and bravery, to step into unknown realms of higher consciousness and attain ascension.

We’re just waiting for chevron seven to engage… That crown chakra that leads to illumination after breaking the barrier, or “horion”. 😉
